We are going to start "real" schooling on August 3rd. Today's happenings include:
The boys making baking soda and vinegar "grenades" that Noah read about on Instructables. Lots of cool explosions and only two minor injuries. Not bad. ;-)
Anna painting a page in her watercolor journal. (About the homemade bombs, naturally.)
Collin went to work at the nursing home with Granny-Annie (my mom) yesterday. The kids alternate going and helping her (To varying degrees, I would guess.). He came home with more coloring sheets and suckers for his siblings.
Later: We watched the rest of the History Channel's "Great Depression" documentary from Netflix. It produced many a good discussion about the stock market and several other things and events. Then we had a heated tic-tac-toe tournament after lunch. It's no fun getting beat by your kids 14 and 12 year olds, but not near as humiliating as getting beaten by the 7 year old. I then finished cleaning and rearranging the back porch and we had supper out on it. Wrapped up the day with a pan of homemade brownies with a bit of extra dark chocolate added for good measure. :)
