spring break

 

I am taking a bit of a blogging (Facebook, Twitter) break to enjoy this wonderful spring weather and work on finishing up the school year. Get out there and get some sunshine!

 (But since I can't seem to part with Flickr entirely, I'm sure I'll be playing there... occasionally. :))

 

meet Penny

Penny is a 5 month old 3/4 Jersey and 1/4 Guernsey (which she seems to get much of her looks from). She came to us on February 20th from our favorite local organic farmers. She is incredibly sweet, loves to be brushed and to chase the chickens for fun. :)

 

hello 40!

Well now. It isn't half as scary as I thought it would be.

Here are just a few of my reflections on this most delightful of occasions:

~ I have never been much of a conformist, but I find that the older I get the less I care for the opinions of the world.

~ For me, creative outlets are an actual, real need. I don't understand it, but I've come to accept it.

~ Having children is a source of constant entertainment and joy. (And they make you the coolest stuff for your birthday!)

~ Dark chocolate is a tiny foretaste of Heaven.

~ Life is too short to stay on the beaten path.

~ Tea probably isn't necessary for life, but at this point I don't think I'll risk doing without it.

~ These are indeed 'the good old days' and I think 40 is going to be fantastic. 

And yes, since my hair was cut short a while back, "pig-tails" are an everyday do for me. It's simply too short to pull back into a single "pony-tail" and I can't stand hair in my face.
