What's Going On
We are winding down the school year and both students and teachers (Chip is the math teacher) are looking forward to the more relaxed days to come. I'm trying to keep up with the laundry while planning new things for the Gardens of Grace shop in June and an end of the school year trip to the zoo. In the garden we are trying to manage the bean plants' generosity, munching on the first few cukes and watching the zucchini get larger by the day.
What is making all of this a bit more challenging, is my daily battle with morning sickness. (Such a silly name as mine doesn't really kick in till around noon.) Yep, the newest little Cantrell is due to make his or her appearance in the general vicinity of December first. I know there are at least a dozen people I probably should have already emailed and "told", and if you are one of those, please don't be offended as I cannot remember if I am even coming or going these days.
Overall, feeling cruddy has forced me to slow down a bit and enjoy the simpler things. Like sitting in the shade of the porch while inhaling the gardenia scented breezes and walks in the garden with Marie for her to pick yet another bouquet of zinnias. I am making an effort to not get worked up about the daily little stresses such as weeds in the garden, family finances and the 3 year old yanking out her bottom tooth while trying to open a Play-Doh can.
I am trying to look forward to all the good things that will soon be pouring out of the garden and hoping that I feel up to cooking and preserving (Way easier than cooking these days.) it all. I am looking forward to that lovely second trimester energy burst, but unfortunately for 2 out of 5 of my pregnancies I was queasy for all 9 months. So we'll see. :-)
