The lazy Louisiana winter has settled in with daily highs in the 50's and lows in the 40's. We have been busy planting more fruit trees in our little orchard / garden area. So far we have put in 4 pears and 7 blackberries (domesticated) with still the grapes and 4 more satsumas left to go. We pulled the first baby carrots of the season today! (I planted a bit late) These are St. Valery and were quite yummy with lunch.
I sent Joseph out to find a few more eggs for the two quiches I was baking for lunch today. After a while, I figured he must have gotten sidetracked and went to look for him. He had gotten the eggs alright, and then decided to perch in the chickens' doorway for a while. There are nice convenient little doors near the nest boxes to make egg gathering easy from the outside, but Joseph occasionally likes to crawl right in among them.
This is a quilt that I am working on for Marie's bed. You can see a hint of it in this post behind the dolly. It's a long way from finished, but I have vowed to work just a bit on it each week. I hate to admit it, but I have more than a few not-quite-completed-quilts in my past. This one simply must get done, however. She truly needs something on her bed besides the tattered blanket on it now. I'll keep you posted on my progress. :-)
Have a beautiful day!
