Whoever invented Sculpey (or any of the various polymer clays out there), was a genius. A non-sticky, easily mold-able clay that does not dry out, yet can be baked briefly to harden into something fairly durable. It has been the medium of choice, for kid crafting, around here for some time now.
The boys enjoy making mini swords, light sabers and various creepy-crawler things such as the snakes you see above.
Amelia likes sculpting people (Like the Our Lady of Grace, sans the snake, on the right.), animals and especially, doll-house people food. We have recently discovered the Sculpey Glaze. It's just the thing to make to make the tiny doll food look a bit more "edible".
I had gotten Amelia this book last Christmas and it has proved quite useful indeed. It's called Making Doll's House Miniatures with Polymer Clay and it is really incredible what the author can do with these clays. The realism blows me away!
Speaking of realism, have you seen the scrumptious sweets and other treats that talented Grace, the daughter of Vicki over at Turkey Feathers, makes? Amelia and I recently ordered a delicious quiche for the doll-house folks, and a cupcake pendant for her.
Browsing her Etsy shop was like visiting a real bakery!
