Today was hoof-trimming day for the goats. A couple of times a year, we give the sweet goats of Cantrell Cabin a pedicure. They don't think much of it, but it is definitely a necessity. Under normal circumstances, the goats' hooves would be filed down naturally by the rocks and stones they would walk on. But here in South Louisiana we don't have rocks, only dirt.... and right now, only mud. So, with temporary blue skies above, we dove into the fun of trimming the hooves of a bunch of goats who would rather we didn't.
That is Amelia above with Muffin, peacefully waiting her turn. Our current goat-tally is 8, but we are boarding 3 more for a friend, so that puts the current herd at 11 curious, playful, mischievous and hard-headed goats. Their job here is to keep 7 acres of under-brush and grass under control, but they are definitely pets first. Muffin is one of the boarders, she is super sweet and Amelia wanted to take her for a walk around the yard...
...I think in the end, Amelia was the one who got taken!
Have a wonderful weekend!
